What is Mgic Potion?

Mgic potion is a liquid water mineral salt mixture , hence ‘Potion’, which when mixed with

distilled water, or water that is very low in ‘TDS’, creates what we feel is an ideal water to brew

coffee.

​

Just like for when you want to create an really amazing beverage or food dish, you would start

with really great ingredients, water is essentially one of the major of only two ingredients that

makes Black coffee.

​

It is said that for all the goodness that’s there in coffee, including the flavour, taste, oils, other

compounds that can be extracted, is extracted through water, and these goodies from coffees

usually needs something to grab on to, that’s minerals in the water. Mgic Potion has a uniquely

designed recipe of these minerals, that enhances the flavours of the coffee, adds clarity, makes it

more pronounced and also reduces the harshness and bitterness (not the pleasing kind) of the

coffee.

How to use Mgic Potion?

​

Firstly, Mgic Potion as mentioned is a liquid concentrate of mineral salts in water. It is not intended to be added to brewed coffee. (it is supposed to be a water, used to brew your coffee with)

​

1 Bottle of Mgic Potion when diluted with 5L of Distilled Water gives you 5L of Coffee Brewing Water. This water is suitable to be used in all manual brewing methods including Percolation, Immersion and Manual Espressos. Yes, this means it works in AeroPress also.

How to prepare Brewing Water from Mgic Potion?

​

Mgic Potion is a mineral concentrate. The Pack you have received contains an amber glass bottle with a sealed cap and inner stopper inside. These arrangements keep the bottle leakproof and airtight throughout the transit period.

To make brewing water from Mgic Potion you will need 5L of Distilled Water / Demineralized Water (any water with 0 or close to 0 TDS). In the absence of a good source of Distilled water, we recommend the use of Aquafina Mineral Water, since it has a TDS of less than 10 as claimed by the company itself, also cross-checked by us across different cities.

Please follow the steps:

​

Shake the contents of the bottle vigorously for 30 secs.

Empty the contents into 5L Distilled Water.

Rinse the concentrate bottle with the same water & empty the contents into the same 5L DW.

Brewing Water once prepared must be stored in a Cool Dry Place, away from direct sunlight. Refrigerate for Best Results.

How will we provide Mgic Potion Water at the day of event?

​

Ideally, we would expect Participant to save 2L from the Brewing Water they are preparing during home trials and bring it for competition. As a backup we will have 20L Brewing Water Ready at Venue to be used by participants. Also we can keep some Mgic Potion Concentrates available at Venue during the event, but in this case participants may have to bring their own distilled water or Aquafina 5L.

Ideally Mgic Potion is designed to work with Distilled Water. Distilled Water is basically pure water without anything added to it. Hence it has 0 (Zero) TDS.

If one is unable to source a good, distilled water suitable for Mgic Potion, Second Best option would be to use Aquafina. Aquafina maintains a low TDS as claimed by the company.
